I've been enjoying experimenting with different media these last few months, particularly pen and wash, fine art markers and soft pastels. Here are a few pieces on which I have "experimented!"
When I was in my early twenties, I spent several months living with my friend Terri as a nanny to her two sons. Who would have thought, so many years ago, that one day I would get to create some fun Alice In Wonderland art for the newest addition to their family, McKenna? Had a marvelous time with this project, and I will post pics of the nursery with the artwork up soon. For now, just the pics.
So, I'm not SUPER great at this blog/art/site updating yet, clearly! But things are plugging along over here regardless. I'm posting some of the most recently finished pieces all at once in this post, and I intend to do this more frequently as I attempt to step further into this internet art world. So for now, here's the latest! First, if you need your "hair did," I've got the hookup. F'reals. My Beastie, Jenny, is a hairstylist with her own salon in her home. She added an outside entrance to the salon recently, and needed some signs to point the way. I'll add the individual photos to my paintings page, but here's the breakdown in collage form. And seriously, if you live in Eugene/Springfield and need a haircut or hair intervention, hit me up. You'll be super glad you did, she's FANTASTIC. I reaaaaallllllly wish this were a real thing, that Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show is actually coming this August! It IS a real thank you to my pal Meribeth, because she's super groovy. My mom decided to finally undertake the task of sorting through her recipe files...let's just say she is brave, and has survived the whole process. I contributed this redecorated cigar box as a new, smaller holder for the surviving recipes... She has since requested a second box. But THAT is the last one. ^~^ I'll post pics of the second one, as well, when I finish. Now, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, IRIS! It's mixed media: acrylic, spray paint, ink, paper, charcoal, glitter...collage style and for IRIS. Surprise!
The website revamp is under way, so a few things are missing and a few other things don't look quite right, but it soon will! Gearing up for the 20th Annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration at Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene, as well as some hefty Halloween projects, more ornaments, and commissions! More coming soon,
I promise! XOB |
